Nash Farm Battlefield is a 204-acre public park Henry County, only 21 miles south of Atlanta, near the county boundary with Clayton.  The Nash Farm was the site of significant military activity in the second half of 1864, including the campsites of Confederate General Stephen Dill Lee’s Army Corps, Kilpatrick’s Raid and infantry battles that signaled the end of the Atlanta Campaign.

While the buildings and museum has been closed it is still worth visiting whether you are a fan of civil war history or not. It’s a quiet park until you turn around and reach the peak of the hill, and suddenly you realize you’re in the middle of a battleground. It has a peaceful, solemn, but deep sense about it.

The park is open seven days a week and offers a self-guided walk with historical markers.

Nurse practitioner Kateline Lavache, RN, of Hampton, Ga., was accused on June 2 for her alleged role in a $8.8 million Medicare fraud conspiracy, according to the Justice Department.

According to the government, Ms. Lavache, 53, allegedly prescribed medically unnecessary durable medical equipment, such as in-home wheelchairs. She is accused of submitting the prescriptions in exchange for kickbacks and payments from co-conspirators, and without consulting beneficiaries properly.

A Hampton County man admitted to stealing money from military veterans and pled guilty.

The crime has been described as “despicable” by federal authorities in South Carolina.

Raymond Huffman, 61, is accused of stealing at least $304,413.75 from ten veterans, according to investigators. They claim Huffman used his company, Huffman Fiduciary Services, to take advantage of a Veterans Affairs fiduciary program. — Source
