Hampton Nurse indicted in fraudulent medical equipment kickback scheme

Nurse practitioner Kateline Lavache, RN, of Hampton, Ga., was accused on June 2 for her alleged role in a $8.8 million Medicare fraud conspiracy, according to the Justice Department.

According to the government, Ms. Lavache, 53, allegedly prescribed medically unnecessary durable medical equipment, such as in-home wheelchairs. She is accused of submitting the prescriptions in exchange for kickbacks and payments from co-conspirators, and without consulting beneficiaries properly.

According to the department. Ms. Lavache allegedly received more than $123,000 in bribes and kickbacks. — Source
